As a grown adult, I don’t dress up for Halloween every single year. But when I do, you know I do it frugally.

Cleopatra Costume

Back during the Great Recession, I dressed up as Cleopatra one year. I found a helluva deal on the costume part at one of those seasonal costume shops, and got a $7 box of black hair dye before bluntly cutting my own bangs. I just kept my hair that way all fall!
I kind of love this Etsy dress (and the price), though, for the same theme in 2024.

Pregnant Skeleton Costume

Costumes can get ultra fancy, or they can be super simple! One of my most popular Halloween costumes was a skeleton tee I wore while I was expecting. Here’s a couple options depending on how gendered you want to get.

Rainbow Dash Costume
Total costume cost: $102.99
One year we had a work conference over Halloween. I had this blue dress I was already planning on wearing, so I picked up a rainbow wig off Etsy and called myself Rainbow Dash. I know this one is a couple dollars over our limit, but I’m going to recommend you get the tail, too.
I didn’t, and people had a hard time telling who I was.

Legends of the Hidden Temple Costume
Total costume cost: $62.99
This was one of my favorite costumes of all time. I did the Blue Barracuda version, but you can get any of the tees from any of the teams.
