This past weekend our family went to the Blogger Stellarbration at Planet Bounce, a new business out in Canonsburg. It’s pretty much everything you dreamed about when you were a kid: a place that has a bunch of bouncy castles, obstacle courses, and slides. It’s like DZ only inflatable. (Am I still the only one who remembers DZ?) I love watching my kids have incredible amounts of fun. And I love local small businesses. So of course we had a fabulous time.
Ryan and Megan Ludwin are from the area and raising their kids here. Their motivations for opening Planet Bounce were, “the lack of indoor child and family friendly play spaces, lack of age appropriate indoor party venues, as well as limited venues that promoted physical activity and get children moving.” And I’m behind that 100%. We almost went crazy this winter. It was a super long one here in Pittsburgh, and bitter cold. There was not a lot of outside time, or ample places to burn off energy. But winter isn’t the only time we get stuck inside: it rains here. A lot. And there are some crazy hot summer days that you’re just not convincing me to leave the AC behind. I get my kids outside every time we have a nice day, but something like Planet Bounce is a great, family-friendly alternative to cursing the weather gods as the kids are bouncing off the walls.
It was also really great to see everyone that was working so engaged in what was happening. The whole family was friendly and helpful. I observed them noticing small things that the kids seemed to enjoy or need help with, taking note of it, and discussing how to do more of it or make it even better.
They have open bounce where anyone can come and jump during any open hours. (Kids up to 12 are $10. Adults and kids who aren’t walking yet are free! Plus there’s a military discount.) They’ve got some pretty cool stuff in the works like a special bounce for REAL little kids and a cosmic bounce session. They do private parties for kids and—get this—ADULTS.
We got to have the party experience with cute painted rooms, the best pizza you’ve ever had, delicious cupcakes, slinky toy favors, and even a craft session.
It’s this bouncy maze/obstacle course. It’s really fun. But the kiddo was definitely just going in there to hide out so that we wouldn’t have to leave. I climbed in after. It was actually really cool to go through. But this is the moment I learned that there’s no real graceful way to climb out of a bouncy castle. :p Dress casual and comfortable!
We’ll be going back for sure. We might even make it out this weekend. They have a free day on May 3rd for their grand opening to the public! Here’s all the details:
ALSO, I have two free kids passes to giveaway to my readers! To enter, just use the rafflecopter below! Good luck! I’m too excited for how much fun you’re going to have!
