A few months ago, we talked about the greatest act of resistance in the face of everything happening in the world is to actively love out loud — to build community.
Today, I wanted to bring a little good news to your algorithm. I want to share a story of how one member of the money community is doing just that — and how you can support her as she does.
Rebuilding the West End of Negril After Hurricane Melissa
In May of 2024, our friend Tiffany Grant of Money Talk with Tiff moved to Jamaica in pursuit of better mental health, physical health and community. She found all those things in the West End of Negril, a community of fellow entrepreneurs.
On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica. It was the most powerful storm to ever impact the country, and the devastation was severe.
While there are aid efforts in Jamaica, there are certain parts of the island that are less likely to see the results of that funding. The West End is one of them. Tiffany is okay, but she saw her neighbors suffering. She decided to do something about it.
In the time since the storm, she started a GoFundMe campaign, originally intending to use the funding to rebuild structures the storm destroyed. While some of the money has gone to the physical rebuild, as she worked on the ground she saw that the most pressing and immediate need was food. While rebuilding and getting back to business as usual is the long-term goal, no one can do that on an empty stomach.
So for the past couple of weeks, 100% of the funding has gone to feeding the community, often purchasing the food from local farmers and small business owners. That means it’s supporting the community on both sides of the equation. Much of the food has been delivered by Tiffany herself, but she has also enlisted the help of others as the need is so great.
The total goal is to raise $10,000USD, which is the equivalent of about $1.5 million in Jamaican dollars. So far, she’s raised over a quarter of the funding goal. The need has been so immense that Tiffany has put her own entrepreneurial efforts on hold, dedicating her time to the effort instead.
Support Tiffany
Tiffany is the living embodiment of love in this moment. If you have the means to support her efforts, you can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign here. No dollar amount is too small, and because you’re donating in USD, know that even your “small” donations go a good bit further thanks to currency conversion rates.
As you get ready to celebrate the upcoming holidays with your own familial meals, this is an opportunity to know that you’re supporting another family as they sit down for a good meal — maybe the first one they’ve had in days.
