I don’t like country music, but maybe you do.

I just can’t do country music.  I’ll put up with some old-school blue grass as long as there’s nothing about McDonald’s or a dog in the lyrics, but country music I cannot do.

But some of my friends love it.  And maybe some of you love it.  So I thought I’d let you know about the MegaTicket.  Pretty much, the idea is you buy tickets to 8 concerts for a lower price.  And they’re big name concerts.  This year the headliners alone for the Pittsburgh MegaTicket are Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, and Tim McGraw.  Other cities will have Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley on their tickets.

The prices are $199 for lawn seats, $399 for uncovered seats, $599 for covered seats, and $799 for covered lower pavilion seats with VIP parking.  My friend said something about buying the MegaTicket last year, wearing some type of special Y108 shirt, and getting to meet all the opening acts backstage because of it.  And she had the lawn seats.  Here’s my idea because in my head this whole thing is still crazy expensive:  get 8 friends together.  Purchase two MegaTickets for lawn seats.  Each of you pick two shows you want to go to.  You’ve spent $50 to go to two shows with a buddy.  Two really big shows.  Suddenly, this whole thing seems reasonable.  Just be sure to bring an umbrella.

Other cities that have the MegaTicket include Atlanta, Phoenix, Hartford, Virginia Beach, Chicago, San Diego, Raleigh, Charlotte, St. Louis, Akron, Denver, Washington DC, Indianapolis, Mountain View California, Sacramento, and Camden, NJ/Philly.  To check out specifics of each city’s packages, click here.

That’s a great idea. I saw something in passing about this on facebook, but $199 seemed kind of ridiculous to me. I like your idea of splitting it to make it a heck of a lot more affordable. And one of the venues is about 2 miles from my home!
